Whew – when it’s this hot out, cooking anything feels like such..an…effort.
Load up your cart with all the garden freshness summer has to offer and add some simple proteins that you can cook in about 10 minutes, and enjoy simple summer salads!

Salad Basics – choose a base
Head of lettuce (try romaine or butterhead)
Mixed Greens (try arugula, Spicy Mix or Elegance greens)
Fresh Spinach

Add Some Colour, Sweetness & Crunch
Cocktail tomatoes
Cooked & sliced beets
Baby carrots
Mini cucumber

Pick A Topper
Three Farmers Balsamic or Lightly Salted Chickpeas
Fresh blueberries

Optional: Add A Protein – all of these cook in under 10 minutes!

Almost done – all you need is a dressing! The simplest ones are just good old oil & vinegar, but you can expand and experiment – try mixing in a dollop of mustard, dried or fresh herbs, or enjoy without, letting the flavours of the veggies shine through. Stuck for inspiration? Try your hand at a home made Ranch dressing.

Now, since you’ve eaten such a simple, sensible meal, it makes complete sense to take a walk in the setting sun that ends in ice cream.
