This squash has a deep green exterior with faint pale green stripes and a bright yellow-orange interior. The average kabocha squash is 2-3 pounds and has an exceptionally sweet flavor, sweeter than the butternut squash. It has a texture similar to sweet potato and pumpkin, and can be used as a substitute for potato or other squash varieties.
