Welcome back to Producer Profiles!

This week we’d like to introduce you to Drake Meats, a Saskatchewan tradition since 1949. This second-generation family-owned business once burned to the ground – but Kelly Ediger decided to rebuild, and the company continued to grow, including making and packaging its own products.

Headquartered in – you guessed it – Drake, Saskatchewan, Drake Meats began expanding their product lines when it seemed the locals were pretty fond of a few of their sausage recipes. From there, the idea to provide a line of deli selections grew, and today you can buy a pack of Drake Meats throughout Saskatchewan, or modernize your experience and order them for delivery from Local and Fresh!

Drake Meats today offers fresh and frozen beef, pork and bison and their processed product line has also expanded. They manufacture a large selection of fresh and processed sausages, bacon, hams and jerky as well as variety of beef, pork and bison burgers. Along with product growth comes facility growth, and Drake now has over 70 full and part time employees.

Check out the new “Deli Counter” section of our site to quickly find many Drake Meats favourites in one place. At our house, Drake Meats’ shaved ham is a weekly staple. Customers rave about their breakfast sausage, and when we offers samples of the jalapeño cheddar bites at events, we can’t keep the plate filled!
